After mating, sperm is stored inside this organ.
The queen can maintain viable sperm there for an extended period and use it gradually as she lays fertilized eggs.

How Does a Queen Decide Which Eggs to Fertilize?

The researchers described an approach that functions somewhat like a molecular autopsy.
